December Message from the Principal

Tis the Season for Celebrations at Fairfield Elementary School! Greetings to all FES Families and Stakeholders:

This is the season to celebrate the outstanding faculty, staff, and student population of Fairfield Elementary School for academic and social achievements.  I want to thank each of you for visiting our website and I encourage you to check out the website on a regular basis for updates and highlights.  Our goal is to EDUCATE, EXCITE, and ENGAGE as we SAIL from Ordinary to Extraordinary Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day!   Please take a moment to read our December Edition of the TREASURE MAP to witness the happenings at FES.

·          The faculty, staff, and students raised $3812.00 for the United Way Campaign. We are determined to win the challenge among all of the schools in the district!
·          The Clemson vs. Gamecocks Paper Drive was a great success with over 2000 articles collected for the Good Samaritan House in downtown Winnsboro.
·          The Jr. Beta Club decorated a room at the Mission as a service learning project for the holidays.

·          American Education Week allowed students to dress up for Career Day.  We had one student who dressed up as a surgeon. Check her out on Dr. Green’s Twitter Page.
·          68 students made the A Honor Roll
·          Students are using the web tool Wowzer’s to increase their math skills.
·          Daily Intervention is taking place and students are mastering skills through the use of small group instruction.

·         6th grade students completed the DARE program while 5th grade students graduated from the G.R.E.A.T. program where both programs were sponsored by school resource officers
·         Check out our character wall on the cafeteria doors where Pride Referrals are posted for students showing Life Skills and Lifelong Guidelines.

Teaching and Learning

Mrs. McClary's Fourth Grade Class

Students were reviewing the relationship between fractions and decimals. They were given a card that either had a fraction, decimal, or word form (two tenths.) Students had to find who had the card that matched the representation on their card. Example: 3/10 would be matched with 0.3.

Ms. Cooper's Class

Students worked in groups to create a circuit and make a light work by using wires, a battery and a bulb.

Students created weather instruments by following step by step instructions in groups.
